Need a hand with your WordPress website?
If you’d rather spend your time running your business than managing your website, I can help.
I provide WordPress website maintenance and support and those small website jobs that keep getting pushed down your to-do list.

Set up the user Account & Email Address
The first step is to go in and have a look at our user account that we want to set up in WordPress.
Down the left hand side of our WordPress dashboard:
- Please go to “Users” and then “All Users”.
- Choose the existing user, or press the “Add User” button to set a new one up.
- Enter their Username, Display Name and more importantly, the email address (this needs to be the same email in the next step).
- Add the Website URL – or if it’s your website, you can use your Home Page, but sometimes I like to use the “About me” page. This will ultimately link to the Display Name in the Biography.
- Write a short biography of experience or expertise for this user.
- The Profile Picture is empty right now, but this is what we are going to fix in the next step.
- Then you can set your Social Links. If you have a new website with hardly any plugins installed then you may not see this section. If so, social links in User profiles are often included with Plugins like Yoast, Rankmath (Both SEO Plugins) or even the Kadence Starter Templates plugins adds it. These aren’t mandatory, so you can leave them out if you want.
Once you have all the details correct and entered for the user, press “Update User” to save the profile.
Create a Gravatar/Avatar account
Now we need to go to the gravitar.com website and this is where we’re actually going to set up our photo.
- Press the “Get Started Now” button
- Enter in the email address you’ve used in the User profile set up in the first step, then press “continue” and they will send you an email to login.
- Use the Verification Code detailed in the email and enter in the Gravatar Website.
- Type in your display name, then press “continue”
- You can choose to use the camera option to take a picture, or press upload to choose a photo already in your directory.
- Edit the photo as needed with Cropping, Filters, Backgrounds or features and press “Save” when you have finished and “Continue” to confirm you’re happy with the photo.
- Complete the details like your city, job title and organisation, then press “continue”
- You can adjust your colours in the next page and press “Finish” when your done.
If you go back into your website and back into “Users” and “All Users”, the profile picture should be viewable against the account, plus you can go to edit the user and also see the photo there.
Add Author Bio Box to Kadence Theme Blog Post
Our last step involves being able to view the Author Bio and the bottom of every blog post. To do this, from the WordPress Dashboard:
- You need to hover on “Appearance” and click “Customise”
- Click on “Posts/Pages Layout” and then “Single Post Layout”
- Then scroll down where it says “Show Author Box”, and you hit the Toggle to turn it on.
You next options is to choose the style,
- “Normal” will put the profile photo on the left and Biography words to the right.
- or “Center“, which will put the profile photo at the top with Biography words underneath. Social links under that, plus centring it to the Blog Post.
Then all you do is press “Publish” in the top left corner and the “Cross” button to go back to the WordPress dashboard.
Wrap Up
And that’s it guys, these profile pictures will be linked to whoever has logged in and uploaded the blog post. Or, if you want to change who shows up, you can edit a single blog post in the “Post settings” on the right hand side and use the drop down arrow to select a different Author Name.
