Add a Global Underline to your Headings in WordPress
Below are the following “step by step” instructions to adding a global Underline mark to one or more of your Heading labels (Blogs or Pages) in WordPress. This can be applied when using any theme, not necessarily Kadence.
Some businesses would do this to break up the text or header blocks from each other and anchors the eye that it is in fact a header. What’s even better, it can be done very quickly, applied globally, and can be changed just as quick.

Adding an Underline to your Heading?
For today’s example, I’m going to edit the H3 header block, but know that the code can be interchanged between any of the headers.
To change:
- Please hover over “Appearance” and click on “Customize”
- Scroll down to the “Additional CSS” section. Your Website’s theme could determine where this option is and not always in the same place. In Kadence, it’s towards the bottom.
All you need to do is add a small snippet of CSS code to your website’s global stylesheet or customizer.
The Code is:
h3 {
text-decoration: underline;
}
- Copy the code and paste into the customizer (it should take up three lines and please change to h1, h2, h4, h5 if needed).
- Press “Publish” in the top right corner
- Click the “Arrow” to go back to the WordPress dashboard
Wrap Up!
Last step is to check your Blogs or pages on your live site for H3 headers and ensure the changes have been applied.
