Set Breadcrumbs/File Path in your Kadence Theme Blog Post
Below are the following “step by step” instructions to setting up your websites Breadcrumbs or File Path in a Kadence theme Blog Post.
If you didn’t know, a breadcrumb is actually the clickable file path from the homepage on where you’ll actually find the blog post. Businesses add website breadcrumbs to improve user navigation, and enhance search engine optimization (SEO) performance, while helping the Search engine understand the architecture of your website.

I provide WordPress website maintenance and support and those small website jobs that keep getting pushed down your to-do list.

Where do you find a Breadcrumb?
You’ll find a breadcrumb trail in the top section of a webpage, usually above the main title/header and below the featured Image (if you have one). The file path is separated by the forward slash “/” and each component is clickable to find other related posts.
This top section of a blog post can also detail the blog categories underneath this, and the Author By-line (who wrote the post and date published) is underneath the Blog Title.
How to Turn on the Breadcrumbs?
Start by logging into your WordPress Dashboard:
- Hover on “Appearance”, then click “Customise”
- Click on “Post/Pages layout”
- Press “Single Post Layout”
- Scroll down to the “Title Elements” section and click the “Eye symbol” right next to the words “Breadcrumbs”. This will toggle between being able to see the Breadcrumbs or not.
- Press “Publish” up the top left and then the “Back Arrow” to go back to the WordPress Dashboard.
More Options?
As an added bonus, you can click the down arrow to open up more settings. While you can’t do much in here, you can Toggle the Blue slider to option viewing the Blog Post name.
As a personal choice, I prefer to toggle this off and not show the Post name, since the reader is already on that page reading it and tends to clutter more space than needed.
However, there are occasions where showing the post name could be beneficial. This includes a clear orientation for the reader, clearly explaining where the post fits within your website, or helps search engines properly crawl and contextualize your content hierarchy using schema markup.
Wrap Up
View or refresh your live website and make sure you like the way the Breadcrumbs look and don’t forget to view in desktop, tablet and mobile to confirm positioning!
